Following the border opening announcement for Monday, December 13, it is with frustration and sadness that we can confirm that Tweed Little Athletics are unable to attend LAQ State Relays on Saturday, December 11 in Brisbane. We look forward to being able to cross the border again for future carnivals.
We can though now nominate for Regional Championships via Results HQ Family Portal.
Normal Athletics will be held this Saturday 11 December in Kingscliff.
$2 Training this week:
Tuesday & Thursday 4:30pm- Flop High Jump with Phil (U12+)
Thursday 4:30pm- Sprints with Steve (all ages)
Next Sunday- 12/12 2:00pm- Learn Flop High Jump with Jess and Les (For all U11s and older athletes that wish to learn)

Tweed Relay Day

Athletics on Saturday, November 13 is Tweed Relay Day.  This event is for athletes that have nominated for the day only.   Please email info@tweedlac.org.au before Wednesday if you have not nominated but would like to participate and we will endeavour to add you to a team.  No late additions will be accepted on the day.

Program

Canteen

The canteen will be operating all day, serving hot food, hamburgers, sausage sizzle and sushi, as well as cold drinks, lollies and ice blocks.  The Coffee Van will be in attendance.

Parent Helpers

We will require parent helpers at each event, and thank you for your assistance in ensuring events can run smoothly and safely.

Relay Teams

Confirmation of teams will be sent later this week.

All rules set by Little Athletics Queensland have been followed in the formation of the teams.  New rules came into effect this season for relay teams.

For track teams they must be all girls same age group, all boys same age group or a mixed team made up of at least 1 boy from Under 9 to Under 12 or a mixed team made up of at least 1 boy from Under 13 to Under 17.

This is why there are a number of mixed Under 9 to under 12 teams. There are also a number of mixed Under 13 to Under 17 teams.

Everyone gets to run as part of a team.

Field events can only be all girls same age group, all boys same age group or a mixed team (boys and girls) same age group.

Family, Fun and Fitness

We look forward to seeing you at Relays on Saturday, or for those that have not nominated, we will resume our normal program on Saturday, November 20 at 8am.

Season Start – 23 October

We are excited to announce that the season will commence on Saturday, October 23 at 8:00am.

All athletes must participate in a warm-up led by the senior athletes at 8:00am before moving to their events.  The canteen will be open and we welcome back our coffee van!

Uniform sales and registration pack collection will be available on Thursday, October 21 from 4:30pm to 6:00pm or on Saturday from 7:30am.

 

Trialists

The two week trial for those wanting to try little athletics before signing up will be held on Saturday, October 23 and 30.

$20 for two weeks.  If you have not already registered as a trialist, simply complete the form: 2021_2022-Trialist-Registration-Form.pdf

 

Rules and Reminders

Just a reminder that a parent or guardian must be present at all times.  We require assistance to run events for all age groups.

Little Athletics is a smoke-free environment.

No dogs are allowed at Walter Peate Oval as per our council agreement.

Athletes aged Under 11 and above are permitted to wear spikes for jumps, javelin and laned events.  They must be removed before leaving an event or the track.

 

Relay Championships

A relay day will be held on Saturday, November 13 for athletes aged Under 6 to Under 17.

Relays is a team event competition, where athletes can compete in up to 5 events. The track teams comprise of four athletes, and the field teams comprise of the total number of nominated athletes for that age groups’ event.  Athletes will need to be fully paid and registered by October 30 to participate.

Queensland Border Closure

Tweed Little Athletics and Little Athletics Queensland do not endorse attendance at any competitions or carnivals held by LAQ or QA in Queensland for anyone residing in NSW as it is in breach of current Queensland Border Restrictions.

Crossing the border is currently restricted to essential purposes only, participation in sport is not a valid reason.

Please comply with this current law and respect the safety of all of our community.

 

Covid-19 Safety Plan

Tweed Little Athletics have completed a NSW Government Covid-19 Safety Plan and comply with public health orders and restrictions, as per NSW Health guidelines children under the age of 15 do not need to be vaccinated to participate.

Please do not attend on days if you or your child are feeling unwell.

All committee members and coaches are double vaccinated.

Please sign in using the QR code each week.

Hand sanitiser and disinfectant for equipment are available for use at each event.

Small group training Saturday 9 October
Due to the ongoing community sport restrictions, we are still unable to start our season as planned – we are hopeful competition can begin towards the end of October.
In the meantime, we are offering two training sessions on Saturday, 9 October for athletes and parents to attend.
Athletes will receive skill development in sprints and EITHER long jump or discus, depending on age group.
For insurance purposes, all athletes participating must be paid members or registered as trialists. Groups are restricted to 15 athletes.

Group sessions back!

Tweed lockdown is lifting 12.01am on Wednesday 29 September 2021.

This means our small group sessions are back!

👉 Small sessions (up to 15 athletes) in sprints, high jump and javelin this Saturday 2 October at Walter Peate.

👉 If you would like to join in, please email us as there are limited spots remaining. All previously registered participants are automatically included and don’t need to re-register.

Small group training Saturday 25 September
What a great start to our athletics season on Saturday 18 September!
We couldn’t start as planned, due to COVID restrictions, however we were able to hold small group sessions focussing on long jump, shot put and discus. These were fantastic for all levels and ages to either learn the basics or hone their skills. We especially loved the young gentleman who joined athletics because he is so good at doing long jump in Kmart! So cute!
We are holding more small sessions this Saturday 25 September – this time focussing on sprints, high jump and javelin.

Small group training for registered athletes

Although we are unable to start our season due to community sport restrictions, we are to offer two small group training sessions. These will be held next Saturday, 18 September and will focus on long jump, shot put and discus.
